The main legal determinant in the current project entails the movement of patents. Expert Reviews (2012) details the legal wars that have characterized the technology sector pitting the industry heavyweights against each other. Infringing on patents, which are meant to protect innovations may result in halting of the project, accompanied by delays and associated budget inflations. There is no directly conceivable influence of politics on the current project. However, several governments have want to introduce tablets into the education system as ex emplified by plans by the Thai government to provide first graders with tablet PCs (Bangkok Post, 2012). In case such occurs, the petition of tablets would go up, increasing the pressure to finish the project in time or even earlier. Social influences on the current project may rise from the view that the post-PC technological revolution has been documented as a social as much as it is a technological one. Consumer Values Research Paper Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 5250 words

Consumer Values - Research Paper ExampleThis research examines how voluptuary versus useful consumption can vary in typical purchase situations, depending on the decision context, and the manners in which consumers justify their purchases with their own values of time, money and method.Babin and Dardens obligate Work and/or Fun Measuring Hedonic and Utilitarian Shopping Value focuses on the dimensions of hedonic and utilitarian consumer purchases, with the shop as work and the shopping as fun consumer experiences. The shopping experience is an activity in which both the utilitarian based need and the hedonic based desire are serious dimensions of the consumers shopping experience because shopping involves more than the economics of fork up and demand, there is also the social and psychological aspect. These dual dimensions are scaleable to recognize formally that a shopping experience can be valuable, or valueless, in more than one way (Babin and Darden p 644 1994). The statemen t in more than one way, as it approaches the valuation of consumption is the theoretical view that consumers require scaleable utilitarian and hedonic desires in a psychological and physical sense, as well as the fact that customers have behavioral responses to these senses.Hedonic and Utilitarian ConceptsThe traditional concepts of cost and benefit values are perceived as having characteristics of exclusively product and price, the standard economics of supply and demand where the consumers experience is exclusively based on the products quality and price evaluations to control consumption choices and demands, and yet this does not define the reasoning of consumers emotional connections, where A fourth definition equates value with an overall assessment of subjective worth considering all relevant evaluative criteria (Babin and Darden p 645 1994), in a sense the overall assessment is the consumers emotional constructs, the sociological and psychological desire to feel rewarded i n more than the physical sense of achievement. Babin and Darden analyze that shopping has both utilitarian and hedonic traits, where a methodology only encompasses the consumable and its dimensional and monetary values lacks the ability to fully measure the shoppers experience, a concept expressed as having brilliance in other research, although Far less research has been conducted to examine whether contrast effects occur among hedonic experiences (i.e., experiences of pleasure or pain) (Novemsky and Rattner p 507 2003). Babin and Dardens research recognizes the trial-and-error and experiential perspective, with the value of the experience being the key outcome variable as described by Holbrook. The researchers reveal Holbrook statement on value as having an interactive relativistic preference experience, meaning that the experience and value are relative to one another in the sense of importance the consumer places on those as well as on the actual purchase. The initial conclusi on is that both utilitarian

Paraphrasing lab report - Essay ExampleThese values would allow clear discordentiation as they are both know and largely differ with methyl salicylate melting at approximately -8 C and pure salicylic loony toons at 159 C. The melting oral sex of the product was found to be approximately one hundred sixtyC. Other parameters that were also assessed include the Rf of the substance which was found to be (0.35), as compared to the known Rf and co malignment of methyl salicylate (0.75) and pure salicylic acid which is (0.33). In addition, the percent yield was determined to be 93,7%. In summation, the product was confirmed to be salicylic acid and not methyl salicylate due to the values obtained from the tender loving care tests and melting point. 2. The experimentational data illustrated that the purified product has a melting point range of 157-161 C in addition, pure salicylic acid has a known melting point of 159 C as opposed to that of methyl salicylate which is -8 to -7 C. The experimental data further illustrated that the melting point of the substance was within the range of 159 C Therefore, the known melting point of salicylic acid is 159 C and it is in close range with that obtained in the experiment of 157-161 C hence concluding that the purified product derived in the experiment was salicylic acid. ... In addition, the product obtained in the experiment is in a similar location to that salicylic acid in the xo spot. Therefore, the values obtained in the TLC and melting point experiments were substantial in concluding the product was salicylic acid not methyl salicylate. The data obtained in the experiments also illustrated that the experiment design was appropriate and the procedure was high-flown as the results showed that the production of salicylic acid was successful due to the correlation between the experimental values of the product and the known melting points and Rf co spot values for salicylic acid. This also showed the purity level of t he product as it was within the range of pure salicylic acid hence showing the majority of the impurities had been alleviated from the last-place product in the recrystallization process. The percentage yield data gives an indication of the reaction and the amount of the product that is practically possible to obtain and isolate. The experiment had a keen percentage yield of approximately 93,7% indicating that 6,3% of the product was lost during recrystallization and removal of impurities and vacuum faltering. Table 2. Hence, salicylic acid will have the lowest Rf value as it has the highest polarity compared to silica gel which is also very polar, resulting in both compounds sticking together. However, non polar compounds such as

Security issues involved with the transition of IPv4 to IPv6 - Research Paper ExampleThis helps them stay connected to their colleagues or bosses at work as on the separate hand helping them solve minor home based problems by use of the internet resources. As a matter of fact, many people argon adopting the work from home formula from the benefit of readily available internet supply. This kind of technological change makes the internet a reliable resource on a varied range of applications. Above all, the internet is now one of the main channels of communication. For instance, business people use it to transfer information on their transactions and governments use it for conducting administrative functions. However, many governments be struggling to strengthen its security levels every new day. According to Hinden and Deering in the publication IP translation 6 Addressing Architecture 2006, it is true to state that the internet is a significant resource for the entire world. Below the application layer, where the to a higher place mentioned internet services are out in the open to the end user, the network comprises of a number of routers, servers and other network enabled devices which transfer information/data by use of old-hat set of protocols. ... This leads to the security issues that link to the set standards of protocols in the networking systems. Today the generation of Internet Protocol is the IPV4 which is in existence since the 80s. It plays a role in the internet growth since then. This internet protocol can be effortlessly installed and is interoperable using 32 bit channelise space to contain or so 4 billion unique addresses. However, as the internet is growing rapidly, the IPV4 is facing a lot of challenges which include forthcoming exhaustion of the IPV4 address space, security issues, contour line problems and other technical complications at the IP stage. The IPV4 suffers Denial of Service (DOS) attacks which is an action to make the co mputer resource unavailable to its set users. This happens in flooding the intention host with requests, consequently stopping authenticate network traffic to access the host. The IPV4 is a target for viruses and worms transfer as a result of the exhaustible address space of the IPV4. The IPV4 exposes confidential data of end users to attackers and hackers who can easily modify without their knowledge. The IPV4 faces fragmentation attacks where the victim host can crash, hang or reboot as a result of the fragmented ICMP packets that exceed the total allowable size for IP data address. There are technological ways to control the above mentioned security issues in connection with IPV4. The transition of IPV4 to IPV6 is one of the ways that involves the end users, administrators and the network operators (Sotillo 5). However, this transition comes with its own security issues. What is good marketing Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 500 words

What is ripe marketing - Essay Exampledisturbing situation leads to a viable business opportunity, how we can follow up without appearing exploitive? (Lears, 1995, p.78) It is only through a satisfactory and conscientious introspection that the often ethically dodgy marketing industry can make amends. According to a leading British management scholar, a good marketing approach would translate to the company pursuing the new opportunity carefully and raising cognisance of the issue without tying it directly to a sensitive incident. They need to set the stage by building awareness of their overall positioning among a level audience. (Krebsbach, 2006, p.30) Unless such ethical considerations are catered for, marketers will not be able to achieve good marketing standards.Ethical marketing is a formulate much bandied about, and at one level, it appears a genuine concept. However, skeptics suggest that brands seizing on the fad for an ethical bent are merely displaying a ungenerous r eaction to consumer pressure, which, while dressed up in the guise of saving the earth, is simply intended to keep profits flowing (Campbell, 1999, p.106). But in scandalise of all the criticism one can attach to the marketing industry as a whole, some corners of the industry is trying in earnest to strike towards acceptable marketing standards. However, unless the basic motive of marketers is modified, there wont be any perceptible change in the prevailing situation. And the term good marketing will continue to remain an oxymoron. What gives hope is the invention of the concept social marketing. It is defined as the application of commercial marketing technologies to the analysis, planning, consummation and evaluation of programs designed to influence the voluntary behavior of target audiences in order to improve their personal welfare and that of society. Conservatism in Jackson's the Lottery Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 750 words

Conservatism in Jacksons the Lottery - Essay ExampleConservatism stresses that human record is unchanging or fixed and has natural dispositions (Loptson 93). The Lottery shows the resistance of people to changes, even when their traditions lead to violence and suffering of certain unfortunate, arbitrary individuals. The town performs the draught with such regularity that it is treated like any other day. For instance, during the draftsmanship, the men began to gather, surveying their own children, speaking of planting and rain, tractors and taxes (Jackson). These actions reflect an ordinary day for them. just The Lottery later on reveals the capacity for evil that conservatism can uphold. Apparently, the lottery involves the ancient tradition of choosing a person to stone each year, because of the tactile sensation that it will bring prosperity to the town. Old Man Warner says Lottery in June, corn be heavy soon (Jackson). What is further troubling about this rite is that no on e dares to challenge it. Mrs. Adams suggests that just about places have already quit lotteries, but Old Man Werner stresses that this would be an outrage since theres always been a lottery (Jackson). The idea of natural dispositions for conservatism dwell on the evils of humanity. In this town, even children participate in the violent act. Women, men, and children alike stone Mrs. Hutchinson without thinking about the faith of their actions. This story emphasizes the natural evil in people, especially when they are firmly bound to authoritative rituals and beliefs. Freedom from traditions is unheard of for conservatism. The only independence possible is the freedom to pursue ones individual or group or community goals. While some towns have given up the lottery, this particular town insists on preserving the send way of life (Vincent 58). Conservatism believes in the permanence of the existing social order (Vincent 58). The townspeople cherish traditions so dearly that their ol d black box seat cannot even be changed, even when it is already severely degraded ...but no one liked to upset even as much tradition as was represented by the black box (Jackson). These people are imprisoned by their idea that their freedom is linked to the preservation of their ancient beliefs and rituals. Though they welcomed some changes, such as removing the use of wooden chips and the tuneless chant (Jackson), the people generally accept the lottery as a vital part of their prevalent lives. They are free to pursue other roles in the community and family life, but never free to change rituals and breach the norms of their lives. Conservatism entails the vision of a in effect(p) life that is paradoxically materialistic and moralistic. It is materialistic, because of the focus on fundamental needs. Gender roles are pronounced, where men are concerned with planting and rain, tractors and taxes, while women spend cadence for gossip (Jackson). Mrs. Hutchinson almost forgets the lottery, because she is busy doing the dishes. These people are preoccupied with their material needs and concerns. A conservative life is also moralistic, but not in the genuinely moral sense. Instead, what is moralized is done

Every movement in history has gone through phases of controversies and criticisms. The Bauhaus movement too, was no such exception. There were obstructions as well as political interferences. But still the Bauhaus movement was successful in providing a direction to a naked as a jaybirdly incepted art form which was known as the abstract art (Craig, 2001). The Bauhaus movement laid the foundation stone for the art and architecture that was to be used throughout the 20th century The Bauhaus movement- source During the initial decades of the twentieth century many ch aos and destructions were seen. While at the political level socialism and democracy uprooted monarchy, at the scientific level machines and new technology brought in many changes. The Bauhaus movement occurred in two stages. It made its appearance during 1919-1936 and gained impulsion during its second phase (Craig, 2001, p.112). The initial stage laid the foundation for the acceptance of new ideas .This was implicit from the fact that people fr om the Bauhaus School of Arts were brought in the hoidenish to teach and express their ideas. The second phase saw marked improvement over the first phase in the form of establishment of the renowned artist Joseph Albers at the Black Mountain College in North California and its acceptance of the Bauhaus ideology by the German artist Gropius and German American architect Mies (Craig, 2001, pp.35). The operate of de Stijl on the Bauhaus movement The de Stijl was a Dutch artistic movement that occurred in Netherlands. Over the counter drugs (OTC) and prescriptions have also been known to cause fatal medical errors this is due to the reason that the personnel responsible could be lacking adequate knowledge and experience in providing ample analysis of the symptoms that the patient has. As a result, they could either give the wrong drugs to the patient or provide an under-dose or an over-dose of the medicine. Following the mandated hospital policies and procedures is very essential. These policies and procedures include providing organisation orientation to new medical round, providing medical education to patients and ensuring that medical training is done effectively. The benefit of carrying out all these tasks is that they will reduce the total numbers of medical errors that occur. For example, if the health care facility acquires new equipment, the staff should be trained on how to properly use the equipment so as to alienate the possibility of system errors. In addition to that, patient education should be provided so as to educate them with information on how they could also avoid being victims of unwanted medical errors. In a 1993 to 1998 medical study that was condu cted by FDA (2013), the results revealed that the most regular form of medical error was as a result of recklessness while giving out prescriptions and medical dosages - This accounted for 41%. The uniform study revealed that the other forms of personnel medical errors included wrong drug administration that answered for 16% while the use of wrong drug

Russia and China Foreign Policies on Central Asia Research Paper

Russia and China Foreign Policies on Central Asia - Research Paper ExampleThe engage that China has in Central Asia is not freshly. The demarcation of the interest in Central Asia entails their concern to extent control over the territory as tumesce as control the territorial security. The sign of interest in this complex advancement is evident from the sustained rhythm of successive visits, since the first tour of primary Minister Li Peng in 1994. Thus, the guiding thread of Chinas foreign policy in relation to Central Asia is essentially to achieve stability. The country of China exists in a political territory that continues to experience restlessness from je frontier zones to the periphery, despite the ending of the algid War, a course that raises new series of risks. The collapse of the Soviet system and eventual independence of the Central Asian republics pronounced a remarkable fragmentation of the region in special to continued autonomisation of the entire region. The effect is that a multitude of opportunities that existed and the stakes entailed for the Peoples Republic of China received a remarkable blow, becoming rather complicated (Lanteigne, 2009). The course is that the movement towards achieving the foreign policy compromises is yet far from conclusions.Another concept entailed in the foreign policy regarding Central Asia is the end of the communism practice in 1989 I the USSR, which in effect granted the republics in the Central Asia region greater liberty (Lanteigne, 2009). Moreover, this development unfortunately coincided with the resurgence of the democratic calls entailed in Beijing, which marked a beginning of a period of agitation in China and the larger region. Notably, the disappearance of the Soviet threat in the region from the end of the Cold War marked the beginning of bilateral relations of the dimensions between China and Central Asia. The course in the 1990s, seemed to take a positive direction as China sought to weave

Food exports in 1998 stood at US $5. 8 billion whereas the world total was US $438 billion. The Indian food industrys sales turnover is Rs 140,000 crore (1 crore = 10 million) annually as at the start of year 2000. The industry requires about Rs 29,000 crore in investment over the next five years to 2005 to acquire necessary al-Qaida, expand production facilities and state-of-the-art-technology to match the international look and standards. The office of the Agricultural Affairs of the USDA / Foreign Agricultural Services in youthful Delhi says that one of Indias proudest a ccomplishments has been achieving a tenuous self-sufficiency in food production and that the country produces a wide variety of agricultural products at prices that are at or below world values in most cases. The Indian palate is accustomed to traditional foods, mostly wheat and rice-based, rather than murphy and corn-based western palate. In marketing perspective, this is considered an important factor for extraneous marketers. The USDA report says initially consumer-ready food products may have to be tailored to include Indian spices and traditional ingredients. In addition to traditional tastes, there are other social factors which affect consumption in India. Hindus account for approximately 80 per cent of Indias race, and while only 25 or 30 per cent are strict vegetarians, beef slaughter is prohibited in all but two states (Kerala and West Bengal) and consumption of other meats is limited. Incidentally, India is the only country where the US-based MacDonalds sells its burgers without any beef content and even offers purely vegetarian burgers.Indias middle household segment will hold the key to success or failure of the processed food market in India. Of the countrys total population of one billion, the middle class segments account for about 350-370 million. Though a majority of families in this segment have non-working housewives or can afford chartered domestic dish out and thus prepare foods of their taste in their own kitchens, the profile of the middle class is changing steadily and hired domestic help is becoming costlier. This is conducive to an expansion in demand for ready-to-eat Indian-style foods.Indias food processing sector covers fruit and vegetables meat and poultry milk and milk products, alcoholic beverages, fisheries, plantation, grain processing and other consumer product groups like confectionery, chocolates and cocoa products, Soya-based products, mineral water, high protein foods etc. According to latest official statistics, Indi a exported processed fruits and vegetables worth Rs 5240 million in 1997-98. The horticulture production is around 102 million tones. Foreign investment since 1991, when economic liberalization started, stood at Rs 8,800 crore.Products that have outgrowth demand, especially in the inwardness atomic number 99 countries include pickles, chutneys, fruit pulps, tin fruits, and vegetables, concentrated pulps and juices, dehydrated vegetables and frozen fruits and vegetables. Another potential processed food product is meat and poultry products. India ranks first in world cattle population, 50 per cent of buffalo population and one-sixth of total goat population of the world. Buffalo meat is surplus in India. thither is vast scope to set up modern slaughter facilities and cold store chains in meat and poultry processing sector.Indias veritable level of meat and meat-based exports is around Rs 8,000 million. In last six years foreign investment in this segment stood at Rs 5,000 millio n which is more than 50 per cent of the total investment made in this sector. Compared with meat, poultry industry has registered significant growth. India ranks fifth in the world with annual nut case production of 1. 61 million tones. Both poultry and egg processing units have come in a very big way in the country. India is exporting egg powder, frozen egg yolk and albumin powder to Europe, Japan and other countries.Poultry exports are mostly to Maldives and Oman. Indian poultry meat products have impregnable markets in Japan, Malaysia, Indonesia and Singapore. While meat products registered a growth of 10 per cent, eggs and broilers registered 16-20 per cent growth. There are about 15 pure line and grandparent liberty projects in India. There are 115 layer and 280 broiler hatcheries producing 1. 3 million layer parents and 280 million broiler parents. They in turn supply 95 million loan-blend layer and 275 million broilers, day-old chick.Presently there are only five egg powde r plants in India which is considered insufficient in view of growing export demand for different kind of powder whole egg, yolk and albumen. The scope of foreign investment and state-of-the-art technology in this field is and then tremendous. Milk and milk products is rated as one of the most promising sectors which deserves foreign investment in a big way. When the world milk production registered a negative growth of 2 per cent, India performed much better with 4 per cent growth. The total milk production is around 72 million tones and the demand for milk is estimated at around 80 million tones. By 2005, the value of Indian dairy produce is expected to be Rs 1,000,000 million. In last six years foreign investment in this sector stood at Rs 3600 million which is about one-fourth of total investment made in this sector. Manufacture of casein and lactose, generally being imported presently, has good scope. Exports of milk products have been decimalized. Grains could emerge as a ma jor export earner for India in coming years.Indias food grains production is now at around 225-230 million tones. These include rice, jawar, bajra, maize, wheat, gram and pulses. Indian basmati rice enjoys command in the international market. Besides growing Middle East market for basmati rice, many other countries are showing interest for this food grain. In 1998-99, export of basmati and non-basmati rice stood at Rs62000 million. There is a total rice milling capacity of 186 million tons in the country. Among plantation, tea emerged as major foreign exchange earner.India is the largest producer and exporter of black tea. However, the most sad factor for Indian tea industry is that from early next year with the implementation of tea imports into the country, India tea may face a stiff tilt within the country as well, specially threat of Sri Lankas presence in the Indian market is looming large. The current years tea export prospect is not that very good in terms of forex earnings because international prices have fallen significantly this year. India exports between150-170 million kilograms of tea per annum.Of course, the scope of foreign investment in this sector is good and the multinational tea companies would either be trying for marketing joint ventures with the Indian producers or acquire hazard in Indian tea companies. There is a strong possibility of third country exports through such joint venture as quality wise still Indian teas are ruling the international market. An alcoholic beverage is another are where India witnessed cheering foreign investment. Foreign investment in this sector stood at Rs 7000 million which about 70 percent of the total investment made so far.The IMFL (Indian Made Foreign Liquor) primarily comprises wine, vodka, gin, whisky, rum and brandy. muster beer is a comparatively recent introduction in the Indian market. The Indian beer market is estimated at Rs7000 million a year. One of the major advantages for any investor e yeing the Indian liquor market is that India offers enough raw materials like molasses, barely, maize, potatoes, grapes, yeast and hops for the industry. Yet another catchy investment sector is fisheries. There is growing canned and processed fishes from India. The marine fish include prawns, shrimps, tuna, cuttlefish, squids, octopus, red snappers, ribbon fish, mackerel, lobsters, cat fish etc. In last six years there was substantial investment in fisheries to the tune of Rs 30,000 million of which foreign investments were of the order of Rs 7000 million. The potential could be gauged by the fact that against fish production potential in the sole(a) Economic Zone of 3. 9 million tones, actual catch is to the tune of 2. 87 million tones. Harvesting from inland sources is around 2. million tones. The biggest bottleneck in expanding the food processing sector, in terms of both investment and exports, is lack of adequate infrastructure. Without a strong and dependable cold chain vital sector like food processing industry which is based mostly on perishable products cannot survive and grow. Even at current level of production, farm produce valued at Rs 70,000 million is being wasted every year only because there is no adequate storage, transportation, cold chain facilities and other infrastructure supports.

Much Ad About Nothing Essay Example for Free

oft Ad About Nothing EssayWrite about the ways in which Shakespeare presents the relationship in the midst of Beatrice and benedick in Much hassle About Nothing and compare it with the ways in which relationships are presented in Sonnet 130, Sonnet 43 and Salome. In Much Ado About Nothing, Shakespeare presents an interesting relationship between the characters of Beatrice and Benedick. We can compare their relationships with the poems Sonnet 130, Sonnet 43 and Salome and the relationships presented in them. Although Shakespeare includes a conventional relationship between Hero and Claudio, he in addition decides to involve a different affair between Beatrice and Benedick. One of these moments where we can begin to understand their relationship is during the First Meeting. In Act 1 Scene 1, Benedick uses imagery of a bird to mock Beatrice. On line 126, Benedick says to Beatrice Well, you are a rarefied parrot-teacher. Benedick could be mocking Beatrice by suggesting that she c ant say anything original and only copies what others say, in that respectfore relating to the imagery of a parrot. However, the word rare shows that Benedick recognises the unusual characteristics of Beatrice and that she is standing out from the crowd, consequently hinting his disguised manage for her. Additionally, this quotation also relates to the context of snip as women, in those days, could be punished for talking in any case much. Benedick could be taking advantage of the conventions of time to put Beatrice in her place in their relationship with each other. The parrot imagery can also relate to a poem called Sonnet 130. This is because, in Sonnet 130, the poet says I love to hear her speak, yet well i know, That music hath a far-off more pleasing practiced. We can link the first phrase of Sonnet 130 with Benedicks summons of a rare parrot-teacher. By including the word rare before the imagery of a bird, suggests that although Beatrice may talk too much, Benedick sti ll enjoys listening to her speak hence relating to Sonnet 130 I love to hear her speak. As well as this, the second line of Sonnet 130 that music hath far more a pleasing sound links to why Benedick uses the imagery of a bird to mock Beatrice in the first place. As he includes the phrase parrot-teacher, it indicates that plain though he enjoys listening to her speak, perhaps as she speaks too much, means that there are better things tobe heard. Overall, within the First Meeting of Beatrice and benedick, Shakespeare begins an interesting relationship causation the audience to be intrigued and persuaded to keep watching. Shakespeare proceeds with their relationship in Scene 1 Act 11 at the Masked Ball. Here, Benedick and Beatrice are presented as hostile towards one another as Benedick is masked, unable to reveal his identity, as Beatrice is basically insulting him while pretending that she doesnt know who he really is. She says that Benedick exit break a comparison or two on me, w hich peradventure not marked, or not laughed at, strikes him into melancholy, and then theres a partridge wing saved, for the fool will eat no supper that night. She is making the case that benedick is so weak-minded that no one will laugh at his jokes. Then Benedick will be so upset that no one listens to his witty comparisons that he loses his appetite and is unable even to eat a partridge wing, which would be a small meal anyway. But perhaps the idea of consuming food could be changed to create a more interesting insight of Beatrices insult. Beatrice could also be saying that Benedick is weak unless has lost his appetite not for food but for life because he is regarded so low by his friends. It could also be a reference to Benedick losing his sexual appetite. In Beatrices quote, she uses a virile metaphor to insult Benedicks manhood. This would be particularly astonishing given the context of time women were expected to say less than men. However, in this pictorial matter Beatr ice is particularly outspoken by saying something which is immensely rude this is completely going against the conventions of time.Beatrice would also be living up to the expectation at the time as women were more sexual than men and would be prone to having affairs and ultimately cuckolding men. We could compare Benedick and Beatrice relationship throughout the Masked Ball with the poem Salome. Salome presents someone who is confessing to something that they are guilty of. One line says cut out the booze and the fags and the sex. This indicates that the person is wanting to lose their appetite for sex whereas within Beatrices insult towards Benedick, it refers to a possibility of Benedick losing his sexual appetite without wanting to. Furthermore, we could link when Beatrice says for the fool will eat no supper tonight to another quote from Salome was his head on a platter. Perhaps when Beatrice says that Benedick will have no supper, she could really mean that he is the supper.

Early Ages Essay Example for Free

Early Ages EssayThe centerfield Ages is a catchall phrase often used by historians alluding to the thousands of long time between the fall of the Roman Empire and the period of discovery and reawakening. The term Middle Ages was coined during the period that followed it, which was the Renaissance (Roseinwein, 2008). Since people from the Renaissance period thought of themselves as advanced and civilized, they deemed the time between them and the earlier world as the Middle Age (2008). The term derived from the Latin medium, which means middle and aevium, referring to age (2008). The Early Middle Ages, which occurred from 5th 8th centuries, was dominated by Christianity which eventually became the rationale for uniting Europe culturally and linguistically (Herrin, 2002, p. 609). It was also a period marked by distinctions of social classes- the noble, the peasants and the clergy, with peasants populating more (Kamien, 1998, p. 62). This was the reason by medieval society was oft en described as a period with lack of food supply, lamentable agriculture, and poor economic conditions (p. 612). As aforementioned, the Early Middle Ages brought forth the importance of religion, specifically that of the Roman Catholic church service. It was during this time when the Holy Roman Empire was established. . One gravid work from this period and perhaps had the earliest record was medieval medicine, particularly the Gregorian chant. The Gregorian chant was the official music of the Roman Catholic Church (Kamien, 1998, p. 65). Although the Gregorian chant was named in honor of Pope Gregory I, it was said that the pope was in fact not its creator (p. 65). Historians accounted the existence of Gregorian account or what they believed was its evolution to psalm singing in Jewish synagogues in the first centuries after Christ (p.65). However the case may be, Pope Gregory could still be held responsible for the popularity of the Gregorian chant. The Gregorian chant is actual ly a body of unaccompanied vocal music. It was meant to set the mood for certain religious services (Kamien, 1998, p. 65). post in Latin, Gregorian chants swept the music of the Early Middle Ages. Gregorian chant is like no other music for has no meter nor tied(p) rhythms (p. 65). However, it is this distinct characteristic that makes the Gregorian chant a somewhat free-flowing disposition.Listening to a Gregorian melody invokes serenity, as if disengaging the listener from any anxieties. It is considered monophonic since it is music for one line and is sung in unison. It is said that there are only few names of Gregorian chant composers. This is because composers did not think of themselves as composers but as conduits of the voice of God. One of the most known contributors of the Gregorian chant was Hildegard (p. 68). A nun, Hildegard composed O Successores (You Successors), a chant intended to face praise to the holy confessors who are successors of Christ (p.68). In the perio d that followed the Middle Ages, the Renaissance, the predominant sound continued to be unaccompanied vocal music. However, the dawn of the churrigueresque period saw the musical style embracing the use of musical instruments like the harpsichord, violin and viola (Kamien, 1998, p. 104). Likewise, the melody has become wider instead of the narrow prescribe that accompanied the Gregorian chant. While the Renaissance period still had Mass music, the Baroque period ushered in opera, sonata and concertos (pp. 100-115).Church music, especially the Lutheran service, was called a church cantata (p. 129). Whereas the Middle Ages was limited to the culture of the Church, the succeeding periods created new attitudes- that of showing that people have the capacity to create and shape their world instead of scarce serving as conduits. The Gregorian chants, which was passed on by oral traditions, ebbed away slowly until a 1994 release of Chant by the Benedictine monks of Santo Domingo de Silos . This made Gregorian chant popular again due its similarity with New Age Music- smooth, uniform and non confrontational. The Early Middle Ages may have focused on proud spirituality but the beauty of it has emanated throughout the centuries. Listen to a church hymn and feel how it has evolved from a simple, monophonic music to the finely crafted yet polyphonous texture of today. References Herrin, J. E. (2002). Early Middle Ages.
